Jared S. Childers, JD., LL.M., CELA
Jared Childers is the President of Murphy & Childers, P.C., having been with the firm since 2009, and focusing his practice solely on estate and elder law issues. Jared received the Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) designation as certified by the National Elder Law Foundation, as authorized by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, in 2015.
Jared graduated from Penn State Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, PA with his juris doctorate and earned an LL.M. from New York University in taxation. He received his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University majoring in Italian.
He maintains his membership in the Pennsylvania Bar Association and is a past Chair of the Elder Law Section. He is a board member for the Pennsylvania Association of Elder Law Attorneys (PAELA) and maintains membership with the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). Jared provides continuing legal education to attorneys in Pennsylvania lecturing on Medicaid long-term care benefits for the elderly through the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI).
Jared currently teaches an Elder Law course as an adjunct professor at the Penn State Dickinson School of Law.
Kimberly M. Jackson, Esq.
Kimberly Jackson joined Murphy & Childers, P.C. in March 2025 after her recent admission to the practice of law in Pennsylvania. Kimberly maintains membership in the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Franklin County Bar Association.
Kimberly graduated from Rutgers University School of Law in Newark, NJ with her juris doctorate in May 2023. While at Rutgers Law, Kimberly served as a co-managing editor of the Rutgers Business Law Review and her Note, “(No,) Thank You Very Much, Mr. Robo-Advisor: A Look at the Problems of and Solutions to Robo-Advisory Firms” was published in the Fall 2022 issue of the Business Law Review. Kimberly also served as a student research assistant to Judge Philip S. Carchman, the 11th Member of the 2021-2022 New Jersey Legislative Apportionment Commission. Prior to earning her J.D., Kimberly graduated cum laude with her B.A. in history and her M.T. in elementary education from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.
Before joining the firm, Kimberly worked in dispute resolution services at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Through her work at FINRA, Kimberly saw the effect that bad actors, both professionally and personally, can have on a client’s financial well-being and the need to help clients protect their assets for themselves and their families.
When she is not working, Kimberly enjoys spending time with her family, expressing herself through creative endeavors, and reading non-fiction histories focused on 1500-1900 C.E. American and European history.
R. Thomas ("Tom") Murphy, CELA
Tom Murphy retired from Murphy & Childers, P.C. in December 2024. Prior to retiring, Tom was the President and Founder of Murphy & Childers, P.C. and practiced law in Pennsylvania for 30 years. We wish Tom all the best in his retirement.
